Abstract
- The article reports that close to U.S.$20 billion of initial public offerings (IPO) planned for Asia in the first half of 2008 have been postponed due to the credit crisis, high oil prices and overall market weakness. Companies wanting to expand had been preparing to win investors worldwide by listing on Asian stock markets. Thomson Reuters expects about 243 companies to seek listing in Asia in the second half of 2008. When the market recovers, it is noted that a new problem will arise with too many competing deals rushing to get done at the same time.
