This section offers news briefs on members and associates of the Center for Black Music Research (CBMR) as of April 2008. CBMR research director Kenneth Bilby handed a paper at the Conference on Maroon Peoples at the Université des Antilles et de la Guyane in Cayenne, French Guiana in September 2007. Suzanne Flandreau, librarian and archivist, was at the meeting of the Society for Ethnomusicology in Columbus, Ohio in October 2007. CBMR archivist Andrew Leach joined the Conference of the Music Library Association (MLA) in Newport, Rhode Island.
