Relación del balance nitrogenado y energético en el estado nutricional de iños de 2 a 16 años con Insuficiencia renal crónica en tratamiento de diálisis peritoneal.

The objective was to determine to what extent the nitrogen and energy balance in the nutritional state of the children related to Chronic Renal Insufficiency in treatment of Peritoneal Dialysis. The study is of descriptive and co relational type. The population taken was that of 24 children in treatment of peritoneal dialysis in the area of nephrology from Bloom Hospital, who were studied to calculate the nitrogen and energy balance, as well as seric and Albumen examinations. The results showed that the children have different loss of proteins although they belong to the same etáreo group and also that their weight coincide since the protein loss seem increased due to the presence of peritonitis, uremia, frequency and quality of the dialysis treatment. This study has shown that the nitrogen balance has an impact on the nutritional state, but to obtain a nutritional improvement, the intake must be far beyond the value obtained in Catabolic Protein Rate. Since it was observed that although in some cases the ingestion was greater than the rate of protein catabolism, it was not sufficient to contribute to an improvement in the nutritional state and an increase of weight was not obtained.
