Abstract
- The article presents an analysis of issues related to Roma ethnic identity and social structures in Europe. Topics addressed include transnational political movements, diversity within the Roma community and discrimination faced by the Roma people. The role of international non-governmental organizations such as the International Romani Congress is discussed, and the efforts of Roma activists to promote the interests of their people are presented. The distinction between these activists and the Roma people as a group is also addressed.
