Abstract

The article discusses the view of theorist Charles Sanders Peirce concerning miracles and explores how philosophers David Hume and Plato influenced him in addressing the nominalistic and anti-miracle prejudices in the field of history and science. The author considered several manuscripts related to miracles and provide a discussion on their relationship with the published assays, "Philosophy and the Conduct Life" and "On the Logic of Drawing History from Ancient Documents, Especially from Testimonies." In addition, he examines on why Plato was mentioned in most of Peirce's writings and his use of Plato's metaphysics to enhance his knowledge concerning miracles.
