This article discusses the development of a community garden, farmers market, and community supported agriculture (CSA) in the East End of London, England by Julie Brown. This gardening and small farm operation, operated by the organisation Growing Communities, uses the principles of social ecology. Social ecology proceeds from the assumption that social and environmental issues are intertwined. The development of small micro-sites for community garden plots in the neighbourhood of Hackney is discussed.
