Abstract
- The article reports on Oxiana's merger with Zinifex, and the appointment of Andrew Michelmore as chief executive officer of the combined group. It discusses Michelmore's desire to emulate Xstrata's success once the merger of the two companies is approved by the courts on June 20, 2008, and if no other suitor appears. The combined group is expected to be a major player in the Australian mining industry.
