Abstract

The article focuses on the study which determines the long-term outcome for patients with stage IV epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) treated with intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy after the second-look assessment. It is stated that prolonged overall survival is noticed in patients with no gross residual disease at the time of IP chemotherapy initiation. Moreover, it cites that stage IV patients with malignant pleural effusions appear to have better outcome than other sites of metastasis.
