The article presents the author's opinion on the proper tool for hunting the Megaloceros elk. The author says that medium-caliber slugs cause more damage than smaller bullets. He also suggests that a less than perfect shot can be taken with a big gun but the same shot has to be witheld if hunting with a smaller gun. He says that A .300 Weatherby or a .300 RUM can shoot a 200-grain bullet at 3000 fps, more or less, and is a fearsome proposition. INSET: AVOID THE LOW BLOW.
