Abstract
- The article presents a review of available evidence concerning the use of controlled hypothermia and fever control for the prevention of neurological injuries in patients who have suffered traumatic brain injury, stroke, hepatic encephalopathy and myocardial infarction. The review also seeks to provide a guide for the effective management of the side effects associated with induced hypothermia. Particular attention is paid to the rate of rewarming as an important factor in establishing successful implementation of hypothermia to treat neurological injuries.
