Abstract

The article reports on the Asian tiger mosquito or Aedes albopictus and its existence in the United States. The Asian tiger mosquito came from East and Southeast Asia wherein they lived in tree holes at the edges of Asian forests. It was first discovered by Paul Reiter on 1983 in Memphis, Tennessee during his study of mosquito behavior and ecology. Its existence in the United States was caused by the trade of secondhand tires and exotic plant called Lucky bamboo. It also resulted to the outbreak of the disease called chikungunya in the Indian Ocean and Italy.
