Abstract

The article focuses on the usefulness of flat bottom tanks on the settlement of spider crab larvae. The study showed that the use of tanks with a flat-bottomed surface is essential for the spider crab. It was found that the number of juveniles that accomplished the second moult was not high. However, the final survival rate was biased by an external factor. This result suggests that the survival rate attained would be similar to the percentage of settled animals. Moreover, the use of artificial holdfast increases survival after the settlement.
