Abstract
- The article reports on the progress in reducing child labor in India. It states that, due to poverty and the scarcity of high-skilled jobs, rural children have to leave school early and join the workforce, earning what little they could to help feed their families. However, technology-based industries are growing quickly around the country and are desperate for educated workers. Newly available jobs in software design, engineering, and communications promise young people the lifestyles that they could never achieve with manual labor. With this development, school enrollment in the country has consequently made a boost.
