Abstract

The article reports on the importance of structural biology, genomics and biochemistry on reinvigorating and old debate about the relationship between genes and disease. According to scientist Nicholas Katsanis, the molecular biological information gives them a much finer view of what really is clinically important. In connection, Katsanis and his team has published a paper on two diseases caused by malfunctioning cilia. The team has also did further studies in a zebrafish model and found that genes linked to the two conditions interact with each other during development.
