Aminotransferases as predictors of mortality.

The author comments on several studies suggesting that aminotransferases enzymes could be used as identifying markers to predict mortality. The relationship high concentrations of these enzymes have with such maladies as liver damage, increased heart disease risk via metabolic syndrome, and atherosclerosis, is examined. The many factors that can affect aminotransferase values are discussed.
