Distributed Rate Assignments for Simultaneous Interference and Congestion Control in CDMA-Based Wireless Networks.

This paper considers the optimal distributed assignment of rates to elastic users in a broadband multicell code-division multiple-access (CDMA) network with variable rate assignments, which is connected to a traditional wired Internet Protocol (IP) network. We show that by using an optimization framework, it is possible to construct a distributed rate assignment algorithm similar to current congestion control protocols that addresses both media access control and transport layer issues (i.e., addresses both interference and congestion control).
