Abstract

The objective this study was to analyze the effects of the short-time electrical stimulation (ES) in vertical jump (VJ). The VJ of nine subjects physically active was measured with and without five minutes of ES. Moreover, peripheral neural activity was obtained by root mean square (RMS) of the electromyography signal. There were not significant differences between the situations in VJ (p > 0,05). In addition, only the RMS of the left leg increased after the ES (p < 0,05). These results indicate that, despite the RMS of the left leg has been modified after ES, this increase was not enough to improve the VJ. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
