Abstract

The article discusses a study on the use of lapatinib in tumorigenic breast cancer stem cells in women receiving neoadjuvant treatment, which was presented at the 6th European Breast Cancer Conference in Berlin, Germany in April 2008. Tumor regression was observed after six weeks of lapatinib treatment. According to instructor Angel A. Rodriguez, small subpopulations of cells with tumorigenic potential are resistant to conventional chemotherapy.
