- The article presents an overview of the management of bloody diarrhea in children, which is uncommon in most children and can indicate the presence of serious disease. A discussion of the prevalence of bloody diarrhea in children, and of the most likely causes of it, is presented. The proper investigation of bloody diarrhea and intestinal infections in children by physicians is discussed. Cases where physicians should suspect inflammatory bowel disease in children who present with bloody diarrhea are examined. INSET: SUMMARY POINTS.
