Abstract

The article presents a study which explores how geographic selection mosaics are influenced by resource variability, feeding specialization, and vagility of interacting taxa. Here, researchers examine interactions among ponderosa pine, also called Pinus ponderosa, two allopatric species of tree squirrel, also known as Sciurus, and one type of red crossbill, also known as Loxia curvirosta in the western U.S. Details on the geographical variation in community composition and species interactions are also discussed.
