Abstract
- The article discusses the feelings of reluctant learning students. It says that reluctant learner has been hurt by comments from school personnel about their perceived abilities or by specific school practices. School personnel sometimes discourages learners' divergent thinking because it appears discordant with mainstream class norms, making the student poorer and less competent learner than before. In addition, some learners come to feel that "not learning" is an expression of positive resistance in a system that does not seem to value them or have high expectations from them.
