Abstract

The article reports that International Paper Co. posted first-quarter profit for the year 2008 would be lower as higher costs of energy and raw materials has surpassed the ability of the company to raise prices. The paper and forest products company which is based in Memphis, Tennessee, says that it was also hurt by lower land sales. Shares of International Paper Co. dropped by $1.14, or 4.2%, to $26.17 in the New York Stock Exchange.
