Abstract

The article presents the study which sought to examine the association between the physical activity during leisure time on the incidence of mental disorder in university graduates in Spain. Researchers conducted the baseline assessment in a cohort of graduates which included a validated questionnaire on physical activity during leisure time and sedentary activities, and classified the subject of the study as an incident case of mental disorder if he or she reported a physician diagnosis of depression, anxiety or stress. Results showed that subjects with the highest level of the sedentary index had an increased risk of mental disorder.
