Abstract
- The article focuses on the theme of fidelity in the Renaissance epic poem `Orlando Furioso,' by Lodovico Ariosto. Illustration of opposing relationships between authority and fidelity is presented, and complications in the resolution of the marriage plot of the epic are examined. The argument that the poem emphasizes the impossibility of ideal fidelity is also explored.
