Abstract

The article discusses a study which evaluated the mortality risk and quality of life of patients with systematic lupus erythematus (SLE). The results showed that mortality rate was high among older male patients and African Americans. Population sampling included 265 inflicted patients in 60 counties in North Carolina and South Carolina, with the medical study called Carolina Lupus Study (CLU). For lifestyle aspect, the study found there were differences in the sex and race categories for physical health but not for mental health.
