Abstract

The decontamination of explants is a basic stage for plant tissue culture. The objective of this work was to develop a decontamination protocol of internodal segments for micropropagation of mango lateral buds. The explants had were treatmed with ethanol (70%) followed by hypochlorite 1% and benomyl 500 mg.L-1 , for superficial decontamination. In general, the treatments had been efficient for fungus decontamination, however, did not eliminate contamination for an endogenous bacterium and fungus. Copper sulfate (25 and 50 mg.L-1) to the controlled the endogenous fungus, however there was a failure in the control of the bacterium. Studies are being carried out with other antibiotics.
