SEX RESEARCH UPDATE.

The article presents information of various research works related to women contraception. In the U.S., about one-half of pregnancies are unintended. A method to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure has occurred could, if widely used, help to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies. Emergency contraceptive pills are a postcoital hormonal treatment consisting of high doses of oral contraceptives, intended to prevent pregnancy following unprotected intercourse. Pregnancy is a physically and psychologically complex and sometimes stressful period in the life of a woman. Not surprisingly, these stresses can have an impact on her sexuality. Since the researchers conducted the first published study on sexuality and pregnancy in the 1960's, there have been only a small number of studies investigating the impact of pregnancy on female sexual desire, function and behaviour. Coital frequency was decreased in association with dyspareunia and decreased orgasmic quality in the third trimester and these results were similar to other studies.
