Abstract: The article reports that stock prices of financial services companies rose dramatically after two major banks, J.P. Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo & Co., reported dramatic declines in profits for the first quarter of 2008. Each bank's management issued pessimistic forecasts as well, but investors appeared to be relieved the bad news wasn't worse.
