Abstract

The article reports on the decision of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to deny a request to ban bowhunting by supervisors from Clinton Township. The DNR found out that bow-and-arrow hunting does not pose any threat to public safety. The attempt of the township to ban bowhunting was said to be based on perceived safety issues. DNR Law Enforcement Division lieutenant Sherry Chandler stated that the department based its decision on a public hearing it held, in which four residents appeared to comment.
