Abstract

The article provides updates on the increase in elderly population in the U.S. which eventually increase the prevalence of glaucoma. With this, comorbid medical conditions and a projected undersupply of ophthalmologists will complicate management of glaucoma patients. It has been mentioned that the most common comorbidity in glaucoma patients is dry eye or dysfunctional tear syndrome. Issues concerning treatment for glaucoma patients with coexisting dysfunctional tear syndrome are addressed.
