Abstract
- The article focuses on the attack of Japanese navy to American ship in China in 1937. The authors present the historical background following the events in which the USS Panay, a navy ship, was attacked and sunk by Japanese naval aircraft in 1937 in Yangtze river in China. It also discusses the letter of apology and donations sent by Japanese students in regard to the USS Panay incident and the diplomatic ties between Japan and the United States. It also highlights the apology letter and donation sent by a Japanese schoolboy for the injured sailors. The article also presents the original letter sent by the schoolboy and its translation by the American foreign serviceman in Japan.
