Abstract
- The article focuses on the development of a metric to relate maintenance (MX) personnel skill level to operational readiness in the U.S. Air Force. It measures the mission capable (MC) rate as a function of the MX personnel skill level. MC rate refers to the percentage of time that aircraft are fully or partially mission capable. The Air Force needs to maintain percentages of seven and nine level maintainers to ensure that the value for MC rate does not fall below the threshold of 84 percent.
