Abstract

The article offers information on the diagnosis and treatment of women with a complaint of increased urinary frequency and pain on micturition. The problem is often a recurrent one and the symptoms most commonly occur is a result of urinary tract infection. It is stated that 30% of women will experience at least one episode of cystitis during their lifetime. Between 15% and 20% of women with cystitis have suprapubic tenderness, but are unlikely to have any other physical signs.
