Abstract

The article describes how researcher Franz Pfeiffer and colleagues at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland have demonstrated a way of doing dark-field imaging with hard x-rays from an ordinary laboratory source in most hospitals. The researchers employed a pair of interferometer gratings fabricated by Christian David of the PSI group. Then, they covered the focus of the x-ray beam with a coarser third grating that imposed a vertically striated modulation.
