NOSCAPINE HYDROCHLORIDE.

A monograph for the pharmaceutical substance "NOSCAPINI HYDROCHLORIDUM/NOSCAPINE HYDROCHLORIDE" from the fourth edition of "The International Pharmacopoeia" is presented. Noscapine hydrochloride is categorized as an antitussive drug and described as colourless crystals or a white, odorless crystalline powder, that is freely soluble in water and ethanol TS. It is recommended that this substance be kept in a well-closed container and protected from light. Procedures for performing an identity test and assay of the substance are described.
