Abstract

The article reports on the election of Dmitry Medvedev as president of Russia, succeeding Vladimir Putin, who will become prime minister. The undemocratic nature of the process is discussed, along with Medvedev's intention, despite his more liberal rhetoric, to continue the policies of his predecessor.
