Abstract
- The article provides information on the authority of connection in Stanley Cavell's Pursuits of Happiness. According to the author, Cavell has showed how his study of the genre of the unknown woman flows naturally from his examination of the comedies of remarriage. He added that Pursuits of Happiness can be understood as an investigation of the formulations of the human need for society and the equal human need to escape it in the important genre of remarriage. Moreover, the analysis of the genre reveals that films also contain formulations of the following subjects.
