Abstract
- The article discusses the findings of clinical research conducted in Brussels, Belgium which demonstrated that a recombinant glycoprotein 350 Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) vaccine is effective for the prevention of infectious mononucleosis among adolescents and adults. The research involved 181 persons aged 16-25 years who were randomly assigned to receive either EBV vaccine or placebo. For Henry H. Balfour Jr. of the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, the findings is a significant step forward for herpesvirus vaccines.
