The article discusses the translation of poetry, and argues that translation has a profound effect on contemporary American poetry. Thoughts on translation from poets including William Wordsworth, Phillis Wheatley, and W. B. Yeats are commented on, and sexist connotations of translation and feminist approaches to it are explored.
