Abstract
- The article discusses the thread of progress, which connects the art during the Ottoman era to the modern arts covered in 1980s and 1990s in Turkey. According to the author that though the Western Europe considered modernism as a retrograde of its art development, however, the Turkey regarded it as an appropriate progress of their arts history.
