Abstract
- The article presents information on the contributors to "The Journal of American History" special edition, "Through the Eye of Katrina: The Past as Prologue?" The publication is edited by University of South Alabama history chair Clarence L. Mohr and Tulane University historian Lawrence N. Powell, who also is writing a history of New Orleans, Louisiana. The contributors, led by journal editor and Indiana University history professor Edward T. Linethal, are examining the historical context of 2005's Hurricane Katrina through sociological, geographical, and musicological viewpoints. The special issue addresses issues including culture and geography, attempts to engineer safety in a location surrounded by water, and the event's impact on the U.S. government.
