Abstract
- The article reports that in an effort to try and restore confidence in the municipal bond market, regulators are considering splitting up the companies that insure bonds. The companies would be split into two parts, one that is safe for municipal debt and the other for riskier mortgage related securities. Supporters of the measure are asserting that it would restore confidence in the financial markets broadly.
