Abstract

The article reports that judge Michael W. Mosman, of the Federal District Court in Portland, Oregon, has postponed a state domestic partnership law, which was scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2008. The hearing was postponed to February 2008. The law is said to provide some spousal rights to same-sex couples. Mosman was asked to negotiate by opponents, after the Oregon secretary of state's office said that they had not collected enough valid signatures to force a referendum on the law.
