Abstract
- The author discusses Linda Keen, a nuclear watchdog in Chalk River, Ontario, Canada, who was fired by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission after she shut down a reactor whose safety was causing concern. The reactor makes more than half the world's medical isotopes and closing it down led to an acute shortage of these isotopes. The Canadian government stated that Keen's decision put lives at risk.
