Abstract

The article presents the author's response to the lecture delivered by Gerhard Wilke entitled "Second Generation Perpetrator Symptoms in Groups" at the 31st S. H. Foulkes Annual Lecture on May 18-20, 2007 in London, England. She stresses that Wilke's talk focuses on the symptoms of social trauma as well as the collective guilt and shame experienced by Second Generation perpetrator children as a post-war effect of the Second World War in Germany. The author stresses that Wilke's group analysis is centered from a group perspective towards the individual perspective. The author argues on how the atrocities present during the Second World War has affected the social unconscious of new generations which resulted to xenophobia and fear of terrorism.
