Abstract

The article reports on the overall trends in Russia's natural gas production in the years following the country's ruble devaluation and financial crisis. According to the author, the country's natural gas production has been rising from a low-water mark in 1997, showing a new situation in the industry. He added that the accounts are based on systematic observations, discussions/interviews with industry executives, and a review of industry sources focusing on factors affecting domestic supply and demand as well as the export capacity, regional patterns of production, obstacles of crude oil extraction, and major pipeline construction projects.
