How to Use Technology to Spur Development.

The article examines the effectiveness of the bottom of the pyramid (BOT) business approach to the well-being of the poor and to the profits of the private sector. It notes that the approach, which uses technology, needs proper implementation to spur development in the private sector and to create opportunities to the poorest. An overview of the analysis of this approach is offered, as well as its impact to the poor people. It is observed that BOP investment is good for both companies and government, but it is important for the latter to encourage the private sector to make clear commitments to the poorest.
