Abstract

The article discusses a study on the conflict involving government forces and Islamic separatists in Mindanao region in the Philippines. The study released by the Asia Foundation concludes that clan violence complicated the conflict. If clan violence were addressed, the study says, the peace process would have better chances of success. Islamic separatists have been fighting for self-determination of the region since the 1970s.
