Preserving 19th-century British Library Newspapers.

This article focuses on the preservation of British library newspapers that have been published during the 19th century. The British Library Newspapers Web site was created in partnership with Gale International, a part of Cengage Learning, with funding provided by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). Free access will be provided to the database within the BL building and to all the Further and Higher Education communities in Great Britain. Fee-based services will be launched for the general public in 2008. The 19th-century British Library Newspapers add to a rich collection of other historical material that is already available from Cengage or has been funded by JISC.
