Abstract
- This section offers news briefs in China as of December 2007. Wal-Mart opened its 100th store in China on December 10. The November 2007 consumer price index (CPI) of 6.9%, the highest growth rate in a decade, was brought about by increase in cooking oil prices and food prices. Chinese economist Li Yining asserts that foreign reserves can be utilized to purchase land and plant wheat in overseas markets to address domestic shortage.
